Out of the ashes came the above new buildings, even yet in the
process of construction, of the Moss Planing Mill Company. This
company lost by fire in June, 1935, both lumber stock and plant. The
business was started by Beverly G. Moss and was under the management
of C. V. Swan. Owning their own pier, the company was enabled to
both ship and receive large quantities of lumber by water. This
plant was located on the Norfolk Southern Ry. It was both a
wholesale and a retail business. A. M. Alligood was president.
