Out of the ashes came the above new buildings, even yet in the process of construction, of the Moss Planing Mill Company. This company lost by fire in June, 1935, both lumber stock and plant. The business was started by Beverly G. Moss and was under the management of C. V. Swan. Owning their own pier, the company was enabled to both ship and receive large quantities of lumber by water. This plant was located on the Norfolk Southern Ry. It was both a wholesale and a retail business. A. M. Alligood was president.
