Pictured here is the municipal building. Today, this building is
presently known as the DeMille Building and the former Old City
Hall. According to an article in the Washington Daily News, October
15, 1889, the building was built in 1884. It was the second building
to serve as town hall, given that the first town hall was destroyed
in 1864 by Federal troops. Notice the exuberant Italianate style of
the building. |
