The Turnage and Strand Theatres served the City of Washington with
high-class entertainment. These theatres were operated by C. A.
Turnage, who dates back into the amusement world to 1914. The
Turnage, the newest and most modern, was built in 1930 and seated
676. The Turnage was a fire-proof modern theatre equipped with the
latest improvements. The Strand seated 400 and was also modernly
equipped. The Strand was started in 1920. Ten men were employed by
