Several people became interested in Christian Science teachings around the early 1900s. In 1915, these people met and organized themselves into a Christian Science Society and rented a hall for their church services in the downtown section of Washington on West Main Street. Services were held there until they purchased property on Market Street. This change took place in the spring of 1937, and after converting the upper floor into a large assembly room, the first service was held there on July 11, 1937. Pictured is a photo of the old house, built in 1810 that has been completely remodeled and renovated. |
