Pictured here is the Free Church, "Mother of Washington." Colonel James Bonner laid off the town of Washington in 1776, setting aside lot No. 50 for building a church on. The lot was located at the corner of Main and Bonner streets and was the first church building built in Washington. The Free Church was use by all denominations until the year 1800 when the Methodist church was built.
